An electronic device according to an embodiment may separate, on the basis of detecting a pair of gesture inputs individually starting from two edges of a display module and each reaching an adjacent edge, a target area corresponding to the pair of gesture inputs from a screen area of the display module. The electronic device may display, on the separated target area, an application screen adjusted on the basis of the separated target area, and display another screen in an area other than the separated target area.
