Summary: | A separator for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including same are provided, and the separator for a rechargeable lithium battery comprises: a porous substrate; and a coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the porous substrate and comprising polyethylene particles and ceramics, wherein the content of the polyethylene particles is 40 to 65 % by weight of the content of the porous substrate, the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the polyethylene particles ranges from 1000 to 3000g/mol, and the mixing ratio (ratio by weight) of the polyethylene particles to the ceramics ranges from 95: 5 to 80:20.
