The present invention addresses the problem of providing an ophthalmic aqueous composition containing ripasudil and having excellent antiseptic effects. The present invention provides an ophthalmic aqueous composition that contains ripasudil or a salt thereof or a solvate of these, and a buffer agent (excluding (a) agents having a pKa of three or greater, a pKa greater than 7, and a pKa less than 7, and (b) agents having a pKa of three or greater, with the entire pKa being less than 7 as a whole), and that does not contain an antiseptic agent.
