The methods utilize compounds that selectively inhibit prolyl hydroxylase domain-containing protein 1 (PHD1). Some embodiments relate to combination therapies for treating heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) or heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). L'invention concerne des procédés de traitement pour améliorer la fonction cardiaque chez des sujets présentant une insuffisance cardiaque congestive et en particulier pour prévenir ou réduire le déclin de la fonction cardiaque qui se produit après une ischémie myocardique. Les procédés utilisent des composés qui inhibent sélectivement la protéine 1 contenant le domaine de la prolyl hydroxylase (PHD1). Certains modes de réalisation concernent des polythérapies pour traiter une insuffisance cardiaque à fraction d'éjection réduite (ICFER) ou une insuffisance cardiaque à fraction d'éjection préservée (ICFEP).
