Summary: | The present invention provides a method for preparing methyl isobutyl ketone. The method comprises: reacting mesityl oxide and methyl isobutyl alcohol under the action of a copper-based catalyst to produce methyl isobutyl ketone. In the present invention, mesityl oxide and methyl isobutyl alcohol are employed to carry out hydrogen in-situ transfer under the action of a copper-based catalyst, and methyl isobutyl ketone is prepared in one step.
