The disclosure provides a method of purifying a linear alpha olefin product, the method including feeding a linear alpha olefin feed stream comprising the linear alpha olefin product and at least one impurity into a distillation column, the distillation column having a plurality of stacked stages; withdrawing a side stream from at least one of said plurality of stacked stages; feeding the side stream into a reactor containing an isomerization catalyst to convert at least a portion of the at least one impurity from a first isomer to a second isomer, producing a reactor product stream having a reduced content of the first isomer; returning the reactor product stream to a stage of the distillation column; and withdrawing an overhead stream from the distillation column comprising the linear alpha olefin product and having a reduced content of the at least one impurity. L'invention concerne un procédé de purification d'un produit d'alpha-oléfine linéaire, le procédé comprenant l'introduction d'un flux d'alimentation d'alpha-oléfine linéaire comprenant le produit d'alpha-oléfine linéaire et au moins une impureté dans une colonne de distillation, la colonne de distillation ayant une pluralité d'étages empilés ; le retrait d'un flux latéral d'au moins l'un de ladite pluralité d'étages empilés ; l'introduction du flux latéral dans un réacteur contenant un catalyseur d'isomérisation pour convertir au moins une partie de la ou des impuretés d'un premier isomère en un second isomère, la production d'un flux de produit de réacteur ayant une teneur réduite du premier isomère ; l'acheminement du flux de produit de réacteur vers un étage de la colonne de distillation ; et le retrait d'un flux de tête de la colonne de distillation comprenant le produit d'alpha-oléfine linéaire et ayant une teneur réduite de la ou des impuretés.
