An electronic device comprises: a communication interface; and a processor that randomly obtains identification information and a password corresponding to a wireless network through the communication interface when not connected to the wireless network, controls a first guide user interface (UI) including the identification information and the password to be provided, when there is a wireless network corresponding to the identification information, transmits a first signal and the password to a wireless router corresponding to the wireless network through the communication interface, and when a second signal generated on the basis of the transmitted password is received from the wireless router through the communication interface, connects to the wireless network provided by the wireless router.
