[Problem] To provide a film roll with a thick-film printing design that suppresses the occurrence of product failure and reduces material loss, and a method for manufacturing the same. [Solution] A method for manufacturing a film roll 5 with a thick-film printing design according to the present invention comprises: a step for preparing a laminated article in which a resinous and long masking film 2 having a plurality of through holes 2a formed therein is laminated on one surface of a resinous and long printing base material film 1; a step for, with respect to the laminated article of the printing base material film 1 and the masking film 2, filling ink 32 in each of the through holes 2a of the masking film 2 to form an ink film 31; a step for drying the ink film 31 to form a thick-film printing design layer 3 having a thickness of 10 to 400 μm; and a step for winding a laminated body 4 provided with the printing base material film 1, the masking film 2, and the thick-film printing design layer 3 into a roll.
