The present invention relates to a contact-type noseprint reader for a companion animal, whereby an accurate noseprint image can be acquired regardless of the state of the companion animal during authentication of the companion animal's noseprint (nose fingerprint). The reader comprises: a main body having a handle; a camera unit which is provided on the main body and captures the face or nose shape of the companion animal; a noseprint capturing unit which is provided in the main body, is pressed against the nose of the companion animal, and captures a noseprint image while filling in flat valleys formed in protruding parts of the nose; and a control unit which extracts image data acquired through the camera unit and the noseprint capturing unit, transmits the image data to a management server and registers same, and authenticates by comparing previously registered image data and the acquired image data.
