To provide an aqueous hydrophilization composition capable of forming a hydrophilic coating film that is hydrophilic immediately after being formed and that persistently has hydrophilicity after being placed under running water for a long period of time. This aqueous hydrophilization composition contains: at least one selected from the group consisting of hydrolysates of tetraalkoxysilanes and hydrolysates of a condensate of tetraalkoxysilanes; a metallic compound capable forming a coordinate bond or an ionic bond with a silanol group; surfactants; an acidic colloidal silica; a hydrophilic organic solvent; and water. The surfactants include a nonionic surfactant having an alkylene oxide unit, and an anionic surfactant. La présente invention concerne une composition aqueuse d'hydrophilisation pouvant former un film de revêtement hydrophile qui est hydrophile immédiatement après avoir été formé et qui présente une hydrophilie persistante après avoir été placé sous de l'eau courante sur une longue durée. Cette composition aqueuse d'hydrophilisation contient : au moins un groupe sélectionné parmi le groupe constitué des hydrolysats de tétraalcoxysilanes et des hydrolysats d'un condensat de tétraalcoxysilanes ; un composé métallique pouvant former une liaison de coordination ou une liaison ionique avec un groupe silanol ; des tensioactifs ; une silice colloïdale acide ; un solvant organique hydrophile ; et de l'eau.
