Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betrieb eines Überwachungssystems (10) zumindest einer Befestigungsvorrichtung (100), wobei ein der Befestigungsvorrichtung (100) zugeordneter Identifikator (104) und eine der Befestigungsvorrichtung (100) zugeordnete Befestigungseigenschaft (112) an eine Computervorrichtung (200) des Überwachungssystems (10) bereitgestellt werden. Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass mittels der Computervorrichtung (200) durch Verknüpfen des Identifikators (104) und der Befestigungseigenschaft (112) ein digitaler Zwilling (202) der Befestigungsvorrichtung (100) vorgehalten wird, wobei durch Auswertung des digitalen Zwillings (202) die Befestigungsvorrichtung (100) überwacht wird.
