A flux which contains from 1 wt% to 10 wt% of an organic sulfonic acid activator, from 10 wt% to 40 wt% of a high molecular weight nonionic surfactant that is a nonionic surfactant having a mass average molecular weight Mw of more than 1,200, and from 5 wt% to 75 wt% of a low molecular weight nonionic surfactant that is a nonionic surfactant having a mass average molecular weight Mw of 1,200 or less, wherein the content of the low molecular weight nonionic surfactant is not less than the content of the organic sulfonic acid activator. This flux does not contain a cationic surfactant, or alternatively contains more than 0 wt% but not more than 5 wt% of a cationic surfactant. A solder paste which contains this flux and an Sn-based solder metal.
