This linear-motion extending/contracting device (21) is provided with: a plurality of rod-like members (31) which are arranged in a row so as to form a supporting arm (30); and a rotary plate (42) which, when rotating in a wind-up direction, takes up the plurality of rod-like members (31) rotated about coupling rotary shafts (32) and which, when rotating in a delivery direction, pushes out the respective rod-like members (31) so as to be arranged in a row. The rod-like members (31) each have an intermediate shaft (33) and an angle restraining part (34) for restraining the angle of the wind-up state from increasing by greater than or equal to a predetermined angle. The rotary plate (42) has formed therein a plurality of engagement grooves (44) which each bring the coupling rotary shaft (32) into engagement with the intermediate shaft (33). When the rotary plate (42) rotates in the delivery direction, the coupling rotary shaft (32) and the intermediate shaft (33) come into contact with an inner surface (45) of corresponding one of the engagement grooves (44) and are pushed toward the downstream side in a forward/backward direction so as to withdraw from the engagement groove (44). La plaque rotative (42) comporte une pluralité de rainures de mise en prise (44) qui amènent chacune l'arbre rotatif d'accouplement (32) à venir en prise avec l'arbre intermédiaire (33).
