The present invention relates to a purification/filtration system using reverse electro-osmotic flow through a composite or hybrid membrane element. The invention also relates to a process for purifying an electrolyte solution using such system. The invention further relates to a water purification system, a water desalination system and an implantable artificial kidney, comprising a reverse electro-osmotic filtration system according to the invention. La présente invention concerne un système de purification/filtration utilisant un écoulement électro-osmotique inverse à travers un élément de membrane composite ou hybride. L'invention concerne également un processus de purification d'une solution électrolytique au moyen d'un tel système. L'invention concerne en outre un système de purification d'eau, un système de dessalement d'eau et un rein artificiel implantable, comprenant un système de filtration électro-osmotique inverse selon l'invention.
