L'invention concerne un procédé de calcination d'hydroxyde d'aluminium (Al2O3.3H2O) pour former de l'alumine (Al2O3), par exemple dans une usine d'alumine, telle qu'une usine à procédé Bayer. Le procédé comprend la combustion d'hydrogène et d'oxygène et la génération de vapeur et de chaleur ainsi que l'utilisation de la chaleur pour calciner l'hydroxyde d'aluminium et former de l'alumine et davantage de vapeur.
