Summary: | Provided are a water-containing thermally expandable foaming microsphere, said thermally expandable microsphere being a core-shell structure having polymethyl methacrylate as the outer shell and water as the core. Provided is a thermally expandable physically foaming microsphere that utilizes a room temperature suspension polymerization technique and has polymethyl methacrylate as the main shell material and water (H2O), which is low-cost and has flame retardant and fire extinguishing properties, as the core foaming agent. The microspheres avoid the use of flammable and explosive alkanes having low boiling points and the use of high-toxicity monomers such as acrylonitrile and vinylidene chloride, and do not produce flammable and explosive alkane gas having a low boiling point, and the water wrapped within the microspheres has fire extinguishing and explosion suppressing properties. The water-containing thermally expandable foaming microspheres have a simple synthesis process, low product costs, and advantages |
