A train control system (10) is provided with: a speed calculation unit (14) which calculates a train speed on the basis of the travel state of a train (1); an on-ground equipment detection unit (11) which detects prescribed on-ground equipment that has been installed continuously so as to constitute a track; a position identification unit (12) which identifies a train position on the basis of information pertaining to the on-ground equipment that was detected by the on-ground equipment detection unit (11); and a control unit (15) which performs braking control to stop the train (1) at a prescribed target stopping position, on the basis of the train speed that was calculated by the speed calculation unit (14) and of the train position that was identified by the position identification unit (12).
