La structure comprend un noyau central s'étendant d'une première extrémité à une seconde extrémité, et des sous-unités enroulées autour d'une partie du noyau central. Les sous-unités comprennent une ou plusieurs sous-unités de fibre optique ayant au moins une fibre optique, un connecteur est fixé à une extrémité de la sous-unité de fibre optique, et une tige de remplissage est couplée à la sous-unité de fibre optique.
