The present invention relates to an examination apparatus for medical examination, in particular determination of a blood pressure, of an animal, in particular an animal having a paw, particularly preferably an animal from the subfamily of the Felinae. The examination apparatus has a sensor device for the optical examination of an arterial blood flow of the animal, in particular for performing a photoplethysmography. For this purpose, the sensor device has at least one emitter for the emission of elec- tromagnetic radiation and at least one detector for the detection of the radiation emit- ted by the emitter. The sensor device preferably has several emitters and several detectors, wherein the emitters and detectors are arranged in a periodic structure. Alternatively or additionally, the sensor device has a limiting device which defines a border of a detection region of the sensor device so that a distance of the border from the sensor device is more than 0.5 mm and/or less than 5 mm. La présente invention concerne un appareil d'examen pour examen médical, en particulier pour la détermination d'une pression artérielle, d'un animal, en particulier d'un animal ayant une patte, en particulier de préférence un animal de la sous-famille des Felinae. L'appareil d'examen comprend un dispositif de détection pour l'examen optique d'un flux sanguin artériel de l'animal, en particulier pour effectuer une photopléthysmographie. A cet effet, le dispositif de détection présente au moins un émetteur pour l'émission d'un rayonnement électromagnétique et au moins un détecteur pour la détection du rayonnement émis par l'émetteur. Le dispositif de détection comporte de préférence plusieurs émetteurs et plusieurs détecteurs, les émetteurs et les détecteurs étant disposés dans une structure périodique. En variante ou en plus, le dispositif de détection comprend un dispositif de limitation qui définit une limite d'une zone de détection du dispositif de détection de telle sorte qu'une distance de la bordure à partir du dispositif de capteur est supérieure à 0,5 mm et/ou inférieure à 5 mm.
