ABSTRACT To provide an information processing device and information processing method which can select and perform a suitable action corresponding to a user's emotions. The user's face is detected, and features of the user's face are extracted from information of the detected face. Then, the user's emotions are inferred from the extracted face features, and information corresponding to the inferred emotions of the user is generated. Further, it is determined whether or not to transmit the generated information to an external device having an information receiving unit depending on the position information of the user and of the external device included in radio waves emitted from a global positioning system. If it is determined to perform transmission, then the generated information is transmitted to the external device. Then, the external device that receives the information selects and implements an action based on the received information. La présente invention concerne un dispositif de traitement d'informations et un procédé de traitement d'informations qui peuvent sélectionner et effectuer une action appropriée correspondant aux émotions d'un utilisateur. Le visage de l'utilisateur est détecté, et des caractéristiques du visage de l'utilisateur sont extraites à partir d'informations du visage détecté.
