The elongated body for medical use according to the present invention is provided with a core material and a covering layer that covers at least a portion of the surface of said core material. The covering layer includes an organic polysilazane and thereby offers both sliding properties and bending performance. In one embodiment, the core material is formed of stainless steel, the portion where the covering layers is formed has a length of 400-2,800 mm, and the covering layer has a thickness of 1-2 μm.
