This stator manufacturing method comprises: a step for forming an annular coil bundle in which a coil wire is wrapped multiple times; a step for inserting the coil bundle into a slot from the bottom side toward the top side in the axial direction of the slot; and a step for accommodating the axial top side of the coil bundle in the slot from a slot opening, which is a radial-direction opening of the slot. In the step for forming, a plurality of coil wire rows are arranged in the circumferential direction in a coil side section to be inserted into the slot, and the coil bundle is formed such that a plurality of coil wires are aligned in the radial direction in each row. In the accommodating step, from among the plurality of rows, rows which overlap with the slot opening in terms of the position thereof in the circumferential direction are accommodated last in the slot.
