An apparatus for controlling communication of data in a communications network within a well environment. The apparatus comprises a computer processor configured to undertake a method. The method comprises analysing previously recorded well parameter data recorded in the and/or one or more further well environments; determining, based on the analysed well parameter data, a communication protocol for a node of the communications network; and uploading the determined communication protocol to the node. When deployed in the well environment, the node is configured to transmit and/or receive communications signals to/from one or more further nodes in the communications network using the determined communication protocol. L'invention concerne un appareil permettant de commander la communication de données dans un réseau de communication à l'intérieur d'un environnement de puits. L'appareil comprend un processeur informatique configuré pour entreprendre un procédé. Le procédé consiste à analyser des données de paramètres de puits préalablement enregistrées enregistrées dans l'environnement du puits et/ou un ou plusieurs environnements de puits supplémentaires; à déterminer, sur la base des données de paramètre de puits analysées, un protocole de communication destiné à un nœud du réseau de communication; et à télécharger le protocole de communication déterminé vers le nœud. Lorsqu'il est déployé dans l'environnement de puits, le nœud est configuré pour émettre et/ou recevoir des signaux de communication vers et/ou depuis un ou plusieurs nœuds supplémentaires dans le réseau de communication à l'aide du protocole de communication déterminé.
