L'invention concerne un nouvel oligosaccharide cyclique dérivé de la cellulose. Cet oligosaccharide cyclique a une liaison β-1,4 glucosidique représentée par la formule (1). Dans la formule, R représente un atome d'hydrogène ou un substituant de celui-ci, plusieurs R peuventt être identiques ou différents les uns des autres, et n représente un nombre entier de 0 à 3.
