The disclosure is related to an apparatus (1) for explanting an intracardiac medical device (100) that comprises a casing (110), a proximal end (112) and a distal end (116) comprising an anchor element (120), wherein the intracardiac medical device (100) is anchored to a heart tissue (10) of a patient via the anchor element (120), wherein heart tissue (10, 12) adheres to the casing (110). The apparatus (1) comprises a protector device (30) that extends along an extension direction (32). The protector device (30) is configured to surround the casing (110), when the protector device (30) is positioned at the casing (110). Further, the apparatus (1) comprises an alignment device (20), wherein the alignment device (20) is configured to align the protector device (30) and the casing (110) with each other, when the alignment device (20) engages the intracardiac medical device (100). The apparatus (1) also comprises a shearing element (50). The shearing element (50) is configured to move along the casing (110), when the protector device (30) is moved along the casing (110) in a moving direction (33) towards the distal end (116), for shearing off heart tissue (10, 12) adhered to the casing (110).
