The present application relates to a method of providing a translation service using an input application and a terminal device using same. A method of providing a translation service using an input application, according to one embodiment of the present invention, may comprise: an input interface outputting step of outputting an input interface for inputting content to a first application according to a request of the first application running in a terminal device; a translation pair setting step of switching the input interface to a translation input mode according to a user input, and setting translation pair information of an input language and a translation language according to the input language and the translation language selected by the user; a target character string extracting step of extracting a target character string corresponding to the input language from the content when the user inputs the content by using the input interface; a translating step of generating a translation character string by translating the target character string into the translation language; and an inputting step of inputting the translation character string into an input window of the first application.
