This display device is provided with a flexible substrate (10) having a region (DA1) and a region (DA2) on a surface thereof, a liquid crystal layer (LQ), and an alignment film adjoining the liquid crystal layer (LQ). The substrate (10) is bendable in the region DA2. The alignment film (AL1) adjoins the liquid crystal layer (LQ) and comprises: a film (L1A) and a film (L2A) which include a photodegradable material; and films (L1B), (L2B) which are disposed between the films (L1A), (L2A) and the substrate (10). The alignment film (AL1) is such that the thickness of the film (L2A) in a region overlapping the region (DA2) is less than the thickness of the film (L1A) in a position overlapping the region (DA1).
