Summary:The present invention consists in a method for measuring a flow, which comprises a non-intrusive, non-invasive flow sensor for measuring flow in pipes based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) and Flow-Induced Vibrations (FIV), with the aim of correlating deformations measured in the pipe by FBG sensors with the flows that induced the vibration that gave rise to these deformations. The vibration signal noise is obtained by direct measurement of the deformation, using FBGs coupled to the external surface of the pipe. The results show that the noise level, given by the standard deviation of the signal from the time series of a deformation, obtained by the FBGs, is proportional to the flow.
