Provided is a work machine in which the attachment state of a counterweight can be stably detected. A work machine (1) has an upper body (22), a lower body (10), a slewing bearing (21), a counterweight (30), an amount-of-deformation detection unit (51), and an informing unit (61). The counterweight (30) is detachably mounted on a weight mounting part (22S) of the upper body (22). The amount-of-deformation detection unit (51) is disposed at a position closer to the slewing bearing (21) than the weight mounting part (22S) in the upper body (22). On the basis of a signal output from the amount-of-deformation detection unit (51), the informing unit (61) informs a worker that the counterweight (30) is mounted on the weight mounting part (22S).
