A rotor for a vacuum pump and a vacuum pump comprising the rotor are disclosed. The rotor comprises: an outer profile; at least one body within the outer profile mounted such that it is movable between an inner position towards a centre of rotation of the rotor and an outer position away from the centre of rotation, a moment of inertia of the rotor changing with a change in position of the at least one body; and biasing means for biasing the at least one body towards the inner position. The body is configured to move between the inner and outer position in response to changes in forces acting on the body triggered by changes in a rotational velocity of the rotor. La présente invention concerne un rotor pour une pompe à vide et une pompe à vide comportant le rotor. Le rotor comprend : un profil externe ; au moins un corps à l'intérieur du profil externe monté de telle sorte qu'il soit mobile entre une position interne vers un centre de rotation du rotor et une position externe éloignée du centre de rotation, un moment d'inertie du rotor changeant avec un changement de position du ou des corps ; et des moyens de sollicitation pour solliciter le ou les corps vers la position interne. Le corps est configuré pour se déplacer entre la position interne et la position externe en réponse à des changements de forces agissant sur le corps déclenchés par des changements de la vitesse de rotation du rotor.
