An engine system having: a variable compression device having a fluid chamber in which a piston rod connected to a piston is moved in a direction that increases compression ratio by supplying a pressurized working fluid; a supply device for supplying a lubricating fluid to a cylinder in which the piston slides; a detection device that outputs a signal that includes position information for the piston; and a control device for controlling the supply device on the basis of the signal.
