Summary:As an improvement to processes for desulfurization of natural gas and synthetic natural gas streams that employ conventional zeolitic materials (absorbents), including copper-containing zeolites, pre-treatment methods and post-treatment methods are provided that lower the level of leachable benzene following desulfurization with the absorbents to <0.5 mg benzene/L leachate, while retaining within the absorbents a majority of sulfur adsorbed from a gas stream Dans le but d'améliorer les procédés de désulfuration de flux de gaz naturel et de gaz naturel synthétique utilisant des matériaux zéolitiques classiques (absorbants), comprenant des zéolites contenant du cuivre, l'invention concerne des procédés de prétraitement et des procédés de post-traitement qui abaissent le niveau de benzène lixiviable après désulfuration avec des absorbants jusqu'à <0,5 mg de benzène/l de lixiviat, tout en conservant à l'intérieur des absorbants la majeure partie du soufre adsorbé provenant d'un flux de gaz.
