This surrounding vehicle display apparatus is provided with: a surrounding information detection device (3) that acquires information relating to the surroundings of a vehicle; a virtual image generation unit (16) that generates a virtual image showing the surroundings of the vehicle as if the vehicle were viewed from above using the information acquired by the surrounding information detection device (3); a display (9a) that displays the virtual image; and a controller (10) that starts an examination as to whether or not auto lane change is to be conducted, before the auto lane change is conducted.
