This relay system is provided with: a gateway device 2 connected to a first network; a relay device 3 connectable to the gateway device 2 by means of a first communication line L1; a router device 4, which is connectable to the relay device 3 by means of a second communication line L2, and which is connected to a second network; and a switching device 5 that autonomously performs switching between a first state wherein the first communication line L1 is connected and the second communication line L2 is disconnected, and a second state wherein the first communication line L1 is disconnected and the second communication line L2 is connected.
