A single-track encoding disc and a corresponding encoder, wherein an annular track is provided on the single-track encoding disc. The track is composed of alternating light-transmitting sectors (10) and opaque sectors (11), and the track comprises one or more zero regions (1, 2, 3, 4), wherein the zero region is composed of more than one continuous opaque sector (11) or more than one continuous light-transmitting sector (10). The single-track rotary encoder only needs one track and two read heads (5, 6) to be able to realize one or more positioning reference points capable of being differentiated. The number of electronic components involved is also greatly reduced, and the structure is obviously optimized, has lower costs and is highly reliable.
