A liquid crystal display device (display device) 10 is provided with: a liquid crystal panel (display panel) 11 that has a panel through-hole 14 penetrating therethrough in the thickness direction and that displays an image; an LED (light source) 17 that emits light for displaying on the liquid crystal panel 11; and a chassis (housing) 20 that accommodates the LED 17, the chassis 20 having a chassis through-hole (housing through-hole) 24 that penetrates therethrough, that is arranged so as to communicate with the panel through-hole 14, and that is smaller than the panel through-hole 14.
