The present application relates to an optical modulation device and a use thereof, the optical modulation device comprising: a first and a second polymer film substrate arranged to face each other; and an active liquid crystal film layer positioned between the polymer film substrates and having an active liquid crystal layer which comprises a liquid crystal host and a dichroic dye guest. The present application may provide an optical modulation device having excellent optical and mechanical properties by applying, as a substrate, a polymer film having both optical anisotropy and mechanical anisotropy.
