The present invention relates to a mobile terminal capable of capturing an image and, more particularly, to a mobile terminal, in which the size of an image of a subject displayed on a display unit of the mobile terminal is fixed even when the distance between the mobile terminal and the subject changes, and a method for controlling the same. The present invention provides a mobile terminal comprising: a camera for capturing an image including a subject; a display unit for displaying the captured image; and a control unit, wherein the control unit establishes the subject in the captured image, and performs at least one of an optical zoom adjustment through adjustment of a focal length of the camera or a digital zoom adjustment of the captured image in order to adjust the magnification of the captured image when the distance between the mobile terminal and the subject changes, thereby controlling the size of the established subject to appear constant. Thus, the present invention has the effect of providing the mobile terminal that is capable of capturing the subject at a constant size even when the distance between the mobile terminal and the subject changes, and expressing a "zoom out and track in" effect that is also known as the Hitchcock effect. La présente invention concerne un terminal mobile apte à capturer une image et plus particulièrement, un terminal mobile dans lequel la taille d'une image d'un sujet affiché sur une unité d'affichage du terminal mobile est fixe même lorsque la distance entre le terminal mobile et le sujet change, et un procédé de commande dudit terminal mobile. La présente invention concerne un terminal mobile comprenant : une caméra servant à capturer une image comportant un sujet ; une unité d'affichage servant à afficher l'image capturée ; et une unité de commande, l'unité de commande établissant le sujet dans l'image capturée et effectuant un réglage de zoom optique par l'intermédiaire du réglage d'une longueur focale de la caméra et/ou un réglage de zoom numérique de l'image capturée afin de régler le grossissement de l'image capturée lorsque la distance entre le terminal mobile et le sujet change, ce qui permet de commander la taille du sujet établi de manière à ce qu'elle apparaisse constante.
