A process for producing a pigment dispersion which comprises a step (A) in which a composition comprising a pigment, a polymeric dispersant, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water is obtained and a step (B) in which the pigment contained in the composition obtained in the step (A) is dispersed with a dispersing machine to obtain a pigment dispersion, the pigment comprising a compound represented by the general formula (1) given in the description, a tautomer thereof, or a salt of either, the polymeric dispersant being a polymer having repeating units represented by the general formula (2-1) given in the description and repeating units represented by the general formula (2-2) given in the description, and the water-soluble organic solvent being at least one compound selected from among glycerin, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, and diglycerol. L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une dispersion de pigment comprenant une étape (A) dans laquelle une composition comprenant un pigment, un dispersant polymère, un solvant organique hydrosoluble et de l'eau est obtenue, et une étape (B) dans laquelle le pigment contenu dans la composition obtenue à l'étape (A) est dispersé avec une machine à dispersion pour obtenir une dispersion de pigment.
