Summary: | Disclosed is a solvent-based paint remover, comprising the following components in parts by weight: 60-100 parts of isopropanol, 50-100 parts of formic acid, 10-20 parts of ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, 30-100 parts of triethyl phosphate and 5-20 parts of nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether. Disclosed is a method for removing a paint from a workpiece, comprising placing a workpiece with paint into a paint removing tank, and after the paint layer on the surface of the workpiece is blistered or wrinkled, placing the workpiece in clean water for washing or rinsing, wherein for a workpiece having a thicker paint film, the paint film can be cut open using a small knife prior to being immersed in the paint removing tank. The paint remover can be used for the removing treatment of a paint layer or a plastic layer from the surface of a metal workpiece.
