Provided are a zoom lens that is compact yet maintains a high zoom ratio, for which chromatic aberrations are satisfactorily corrected, and that has high optical performance, and an imaging device equipped with the zoom lens. The zoom lens comprises in the order from an object side: a positive first lens group G1 that remains fixed during changes in magnification; a plurality of movable lens groups that moves during changes in magnification; and a positive final lens group Ge that remains fixed during changes in magnification. At least one movable lens group has a negative refractive power. The movable lens group closest to the object that has a negative refractive power has two or more negative lenses and satisfies a prescribed conditional expression.
