Provided are a discontinuous reception (DRX) method, wireless access network node and terminal. The method comprises: notifying, by a wireless access network node, a terminal of activation information of a DRX mechanism of a non-authorized carrier, wherein the activation information comprises one or more of the following information: DRX mechanism activation time, effective time, limit time and a non-authorized carrier identifier. By the above method of the present invention, a terminal effectively saves, via the DRX, power when a non-authorized frequency spectrum is used, thus improving user experience.
