[Problem] To provide a device and a method for optimizing an access point setting position that allows a wireless multi-hop network to be formed at low cost. [Solution] A device for optimizing an access point setting position according to an embodiment is provided with: a communication possibility determining unit; a coverage calculating unit; a combination generating unit; a calculating unit; and a combination selecting unit. The communication possibility determining unit determines the communication possibility among nodes in a wireless multi-hop network that includes, as the nodes, a plurality of wireless terminals and a plurality of access points. The coverage calculating unit calculates, on the basis of the communication possibility, the coverage of the wireless terminal with which the access point can communicate by at most a predetermined number of hops. The combination generating unit generates one or a plurality of combinations of the access points. The calculating unit calculates, on the basis of the coverage, the cost and redundancy in a case where the access points are set according to the combinations. The combination selecting unit selects the combination on the basis of the redundancy and cost. La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif et un procédé d'optimisation d'une position de réglage d'un point d'accès qui permet de former à faibles coûts un réseau sans fil à multiples bonds. À cet effet, un dispositif d'optimisation d'une position de réglage d'un point d'accès selon un mode de réalisation est équipé de : une unité de détermination de possibilité de communication ; une unité de calcul de couverture ; une unité de génération de combinaisons ; une unité de calcul ; et une unité de sélection de combinaison. L'unité de détermination de possibilité de communication détermine la possibilité de communication parmi des nœuds dans un réseau sans fil à multiples bonds qui comporte, en tant que nœuds, une pluralité de terminaux sans fil et une pluralité de points d'accès. L'unité de calcul de couverture calcule, sur la base de la possibilité de communication, la couverture du terminal sans fil avec lequel le point d'accès peut communiquer par au plus un nombre prédéterminé de bonds. L'unité de génération de combinaisons génère une ou plusieurs combinaisons des points d'accès. L'unité de calcul calcule, sur la base de la couverture, le coût et la redondance dans un cas où les points d'accès sont définis selon les combinaisons.
