This display device (1) is to be mounted on a device that operates on the basis of an operation instruction and is provided with: a display unit (20); a hard key (30); a screen information acquisition part (101); a status information acquisition part (103); a storage unit (40); an item acquisition part (105); and a display control part (107). An input screen (21) on which a user can input an operation instruction is displayed on the display unit (20). The screen information acquisition part (101) acquires screen information of the input screen (21). The status information acquisition part (103) acquires device status information. A table (41) associating the status information, the screen information, and items for soft keys (23) to be displayed on the display unit (20) with one another is stored in the storage unit (40). The item acquisition part (105) acquires the items from the status information and screen information. The display control part (107) causes the display unit (20) to display soft keys (23) corresponding to the items in response to depression of the hard key (30).
