In a uniflow scavenging two-cycle engine, a scavenging port (126) is provided with: a swirl guide (126a) for guiding scavenged gas from outside a cylinder (110) to the inside of the cylinder, in a direction inclined relative to the radial direction the cylinder; and a center guide (126b) provided nearer to a crank of the cylinder than is the swirl guide, the center guide guiding the scavenged gas nearer to the center of the cylinder than does the swirl guide. When a piston is at bottom dead center during a high-compression-ratio mode, at least part of the center guide faces the piston (112), and when the piston is at bottom dead center during a low-compression-ratio mode, either the center guide and the piston do not face each other or the area facing the piston is less than that during the high-compression-ratio mode. La présente invention concerne un moteur deux temps à balayage longitudinal comportant un orifice de balayage (126) pourvu : d'un guide de tourbillon (126a) destiné à guider un gaz balayé depuis l'extérieur d'un cylindre (110) vers l'intérieur du cylindre, dans une direction inclinée par rapport à la direction radiale du cylindre ; et un guide central (126b) disposé plus près d'une manivelle du cylindre que le guide de tourbillon, le guide central guidant le gaz balayé plus près du centre du cylindre que ne le fait le guide de tourbillon.
