An ultrasonic instrument comprises a handle assembly or other kind of body configured to receive an ultrasonic transducer and a shaft assembly having an acoustic waveguide and an ultrasonic blade. The ultrasonic blade is in acoustic communication with the acoustic waveguide such that the ultrasonic transducer is operable to drive the ultrasonic blade to vibrate ultrasonically via the acoustic waveguide. The ultrasonic instrument further comprises an actuation assembly disposed within the handle assembly. The actuation assembly includes a plurality of buttons disposed about the handle assembly in an angularly spaced array. Each button may be depressed independently of the rest to thereby actuate a switch assembly such that power is provided to the ultrasonic transducer, the acoustic waveguide, and the ultrasonic blade. The actuation assembly is operable to convert radial movement of the buttons into longitudinal, transverse, and/or pivotal movement that actuates the switch assembly. L'invention concerne un instrument ultrasonore comprenant un ensemble manche ou un autre type de corps conçu pour recevoir un transducteur ultrasonore et un ensemble arbre comportant un guide d'ondes acoustique et une lame ultrasonore. La lame ultrasonore est en communication acoustique avec le guide d'ondes acoustique de sorte que le transducteur ultrasonore puisse amener la lame ultrasonore à entrer en vibration ultrasonore par l'intermédiaire du guide d'ondes acoustique. L'instrument ultrasonore comprend en outre un ensemble actionnement disposé à l'intérieur de l'ensemble manche. L'ensemble actionnement comprend une pluralité de boutons disposés autour de l'ensemble manche dans un réseau angulairement espacé. Chaque bouton peut être enfoncé indépendamment des autres pour ainsi actionner un ensemble commutateur de telle sorte que la puissance soit fournie au transducteur ultrasonore, au guide d'ondes acoustique, et à la lame ultrasonore. L'ensemble actionnement peut être mis en œuvre pour convertir le mouvement radial des boutons en mouvement longitudinal, transversal, et/ou rotatif qui actionne l'ensemble commutateur.
