A hair-dye composition that contains the following components: (A) one or more azo dyes selected from the group consisting of (A-1), (A-2), and (A-3); and (B) one or more species selected from the group consisting of guanidine carbonate, guanidine bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate, and lithium carbonate. The ratio ((B)/(A)) of the mass of component (B) in the composition to the mass of component (A) in the composition is between 1 and 100, inclusive, and the pH (at 25°C) of the composition when used is between 7.5 and 12, inclusive.
