Summary:A fibrous web that includes a cationic polymer that contains a cationic monomer comprising a cationic functional group having an affinity for the negatively charged cell walls of bacteria and a hydrophobic monomer comprising a hydrophobic functional group is provided. The molar ratio of the cationic monomer to the hydrophobic monomer is greater than about 1:1. The affinity of the cationic polymer for the bacteria allows the web to capture bacteria, thereby removing them from a surface or liquid, without the use of harsh chemicals, and also inhibiting their spread to other surfaces and liquids that may contact the web. L'invention concerne une bande fibreuse qui comprend un polymère cationique qui contient un monomère cationique comprenant un groupe fonctionnel cationique possédant une affinité pour les parois cellulaires chargées négativement de bactéries et un monomère hydrophobe comprenant un groupe fonctionnel hydrophobe. Le rapport molaire du monomère cationique au monomère hydrophobe est supérieur à environ 1:1. L'affinité du polymère cationique pour les bactéries permet à la bande de capturer les bactéries, ce qui les élimine d'une surface ou d'un liquide, sans utilisation de substances chimiques agressives, et inhibe également leur dispersion sur d'autres surfaces et liquides qui peuvent venir en contact avec la bande.
