The present disclosure is directed toward a papermaking belt (200) having a reinforcing element (202) comprising a surface (204), a plurality of irregularly shaped, discrete raised portions (206) extending from portions of the surface of the reinforcing element, wherein the discrete raised portions are situated in an irregular pattern, wherein each of the discrete raised portions has a major axis (A) and a minor axis (B) and wherein the length of the major axis is greater than or equal to the length of the minor axis, and a substantially continuous deflection conduit (208) defining at least some of the discrete raised portions.
