L'invention concerne un procédé de co-prodution d'acide acétique et d'oxyde de diméthyle en mettant en contact de l'acétate de méthyle et du méthanol en présence de catalyseurs comprenant des zéolites cristallines ayant une ossature de type FER, lesdites cristallites ayant une dimension selon l'axe c d'environ 500 nanomètres (nm) ou moins et un rapport de dimension axe c:axe b de 5:1 ou plus. L'invention concerne également un procédé de préparation des zéolites en utilisant des pipérazines.
